If you guys looking for the modern Italian restaurant with stunning yet simple interior in Bali, Da Maria is the best answer! Their interior is designed by Roman architects, Lazzarini Pickering.
They offer traditional Italian food in modern environment.We’ve tried few authentic Italian food in Jakarta, but Da Maria still the best among all.
Blue colour is so dominant in here, with a little touch of yellow, makes me feel like home! When we visited Da Maria, it has just opened for a month, so no wonder they have many waiting list out there. Lucky us, we got a chance to try and write a review about this restaurant!
And they also have open kitchen, so we can look how our food is being made.
Here we go for the appetizer!
Abruzzian Arrosticini – IDR 60K for 5 pcs
A traditional lamb skewers with lemon and rosemary salt. You can choose your size! Available for 5, 10 or 15 skewers. Not bad for appetizer, it boost our appetite!
Oh ya, forgot to tell you guys, they provide a complimentary drink, it was Acqua Panna, which is quite expensive for a mineral water. And you can ask more!
Next is main course!
We were so curious about their pizza, usually, all the pizza places have the same texture and taste. But not in here!
Contadina – IDR 120K
Da Maria only have one size of pizza, its 30 cm round. Their pizza are naturally fermented for 24 hours inspired by the neapolitan way and cooked in local lava ovens. It has chewy texture which i love the most! For the topping, we chose Contadina, salami, ricotta cheese and fior di latte (cream milk) .
This is perfect!
Gnocchi Pesto alla Genovese – IDR 100K
Beside spaghetti and fettuccine, type of pasta that we love is Gnocchi! A little bit fat pasta in oval shape, this gnocchi served in thick brown sauce like “rendang” in Italian way and don’t forget the parmesan cheese on top. But the gnocchi texture was too soft for us, too bad because we love Gnocchi a lot 😦
King Prawns Wood Fired – IDR 180K
As the name mentioned above, this is king prawns wood fired with chili, mint and black olives on top. Yes, there’s chili but not spicy at all, anyway this is so damn geewwddd!! OMG. The combination between chopped black olives, mint leaves, tomatoes and chili are dancing in my mouth! Never say enough for this king prawns 😀
After those savory dishes, let’s finish it with something sweet!
Vanilla Panacotta – IDR 60K
Nice presentation! This is panacotta with watermelon granita and meringue. To be honest, i don’t like the texture of panacotta, as far as i know, panacotta should be thick because of gelatin, but this one isn’t thick but fluffy. However, i love the watermelon granita 😀
Vanilla and Chocolate Gelato – IDR 60K
Italian gelato is the best! I know this gelato is using a real vanilla bean for the vanilla flavor! And their chocolate gelato is not sweet which i love it 😀
